THE CHRISTIAN SCIENTISTS
ACTION FOR PUBLICATION OF ACCOUNTS. LARGE SUM MISSING. By Telegraph.—Press Association.— Copf-isht. (KeceiTed Jane 2, 4.50 p.m.) . New York, June I. During the hearing of a suit brought! to compel the officials of the Christian Science Church to render accounts, it has been elicited that £20,000 had disappeared a few days before the appointment of trustees of the Church, and that the members of Mrs. Eddy's family have ignored the trustees. ' The hearing is proceeding. The action, according \x a previous cablegram, is being brought by a son of Mrs. Eddy, to compel the trustees of the Church to publish a financial statement. The application is based on the allegation that Mrs. Eddy, the head of the Church, is physically and mentally feeble. The proceedings were notified in March, and later it was stated; that Mrs. Eddy had offered her son a large sum to forego all claim upon her and the; members of the sect. The funds of the Church are said to amount to £2,000,000. :
