The activity in the building trade in Christchurch and Canterbury is well illustrated by the enormous importations of timber at Lyttelton (says the Times). During the four weeks ending April 27, 4,000,000 , feet were imported. This fs a record for a normal term, , and is especially surprising on account of the large quantity of timber which the Exhibit'Vm authorities will place on the market soon*
