QUESTION OF STATE RIGHTS. By Telegraph.— Association.—

•' London, May 29. < The Premier of Victoria (Mr. Bent) has had a long interview with the Under-Secretary for the Colonies (Mr. Churchill) respecting the sovereignty rights of the Australian States as against the Federal ' Government. He intends to see Lord Elgin on the same subject.

The Australian Premiers now meeting in Brisbane aro taking steps to assert the sov©reigntry rights of the States. They object to having to communicate- with the Home Government through the Governor-General instead of through the State Governors. They claimed the right to be represented at the Imperial Conference, but this claim was disallowed by Lord Elgin. It is part of the anti-Federal movement.
