MILITARY COMMANDS.

General Sir Nevill Lyttelton has been appointed Commander-in-Chief in Ireland in succession to General Lord Grenfell., and he is to be succeeded as Chief of the General Staff by Lieutenant-General Sir William Nicholson, the present Quarter-Master-General and third military member of the Army Council.
General Lord Methuen (Eastern District command) is to succeed General Sir H. T. Hildyard in command of the South African forces.
