JAPAN AND AMERICA.

j THE ATTACK AT SAN FRANCISCO. HOW IT OCCURRED. By Telfegraph.—Press Association, Copyright. New York, May 29. The recent disturbance at San Francisco. in which Japanese restaurantkeepers were attacked arose through two unionists dining in a Japanese restaurant. The other unionists demanded their expulsion from the union or the surrender of their unionist cards.

The two men refused to give up their cards, and a mob of unionists then attacked the restaurant.

The police force of San Francisco is not strong enough to maintain order as they are fully occupied with the strike on the street railways.
