GENERAL LABOURERS' UNION.
[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Wellington, Thursday. The brief history of the General Labourers' Union is one of swift progress. In (fact it is contended that it has put up something of a record in union formation, seeing , that the organisation proceedings only commenced in January, and since then nearly 500 members have joined in the city and suburbs. Further, the secretary {Mr. M. J. Rea.rdon) has recently been through the industrial district with the Conciliation Board, appearing for the Timber Workers' Union in its dispute with the employers. In the course of his journeyings lie brought about an agreement between the Wairarapa. and Wellington branches of the General Labourers' Union, and established new branches at Napier and at Palmerston North, and at Wanganui he arranged for the organisation of branches as soon as he can get another opportunity of visiting the district.
