Denedin, Wednesday. The Rev. Mr. Wood, Presbyterian minister, nearly met his death to-day. A Kaikorai car stopped at the High School, and Mr. Wood got off, carrying a portmanteau. He attempted to cross in front of the car, which was starting again, and was knocked down and dragged for a few feet. The driver and conductor extricated him, and he was found to be unhurt. The promptitude and "skill of the motorman saved Mr. Wood's life.- 5 V-
