London, May 23. In the House of Commons yester* day, Mr. Churchill stated that the presence of so many Chinese on the Rand, added to the general insecurity arising from the strike, had justified the High Commissioner (Lord Selborne) in acceding to, the Transvaal Government's request for troops. Router's Johannesburg correspondent says . that the troops completely garrison the mines, and are enabling many half-hearted strikers to resume work.
