CONFERENCE AT WELLINGTON.

; Wellington, Monday, ! IA conference of delegates from local bodies was held to-day, to consider the increase in the district hospital estimates from £19,750 in 1906, to £27,100 in 1907. This is an increase of 4 per cent. The number of patients had increased by 10 per cent. It was decided that the Government be approached arid asked to make hospital trustees directly responsible to local bodies; that Government be represented on the boards of trustees, and that the rating be upon a population basis.
