THE GOLDFIELDS.
WAIOTAHI. Mb. G. S. Eissusg, the secretary of ,• the Waiotahi Gold Mining Company, received the following telegram from the rhino man'ager on Saturday:—" Selected 1701b of; picked stone from the eighth stope east of No. 1 winze above No. 5 level." - 4 TALISMAN. : A cablegram received by the local office of tho Talisman Gold Mining Company, Limited, states the annual meeting is to be held in.London on May 30, instead of in July, as usual. ; • KIRIKIRI. A telegram received from the manager of the Kirikiri mine on Saturday stated that in breaking down the reef in the winze ho had secured 201b of picked stone. Tho gold was left showing. •: .■ The manager, under date May 20, t'cports:— finished breaking down reef that was stripped. The size of reef is from lft to 20in thick. Colours and dabs of gold were freely seen through tho quartz, and gold is left showing in bottom of the winze. I am now putting in two sets of; timbers. As soon as this is finished I will resume I sinking again. • KURANUL' A telegram received by Mr. J. W. Nichol (secretary) from the manager of the Kuranui mine on Saturday states that, from a crushing of 15 tons of ore from the footwall leader, a yield of 40oz of melted gold was obtained. The estimated value of the gold is about £90. - ' . ' ; .;; . HALCYON. '"■"„.' . The manager of the Halcyon mine telegraphed to*: the secretary (Mr.'H. Gilfillan, jun.), on Saturday as follows:—" Tapped the reef in.low level. Will breakdown tho reef on Monday." '■
'•'.'. SUNBEAM. ," The manager of the Sunbeam mine reports that the stamps worked 95 hours for tho past wee-Ik, and crushed •36 tons of ore, producing sCoz of-' amalgam and one ton 3cwt of concentrates, of an average value of £22 Is 2d per ton. The" total amount ot concentrates on hand is eight tons 14cwt, and amalgam 4960z. ~> Reporting on general work, dated May 23, tho manager says that stoping operations have been carried on over the back of No. 1 level east and west of the main crosscut. The reef averages 2ft in width, and is producing a good supply of milling dirt. The value of the ore won is well maintained. The No. level west has been at a standstill during the week, but driving in this level should bo commenced again at the end of the'present week.
