In connection with the proposal that .a. team of South African athletes should tour Australasia next year a sub-committeo of the New. Zealand Council has been set up to go into the ' matter and report at next •meeting. " y ■ Nigel Barker, the,. New South .Wales| .sprinter, is at present incapacitated with an injured knee and ankle, and . may bo unable to train for some weeks. v The contest for the cross-country championship of Ireland was decided over an eight-milo course in Dublin on March 16. The course was heavy, owing to recent j rains. H. Downing was first home in 51m. 51 3-ss. [.. ■ West Australia is still keeping up its name for producing records on the racing 'track. At the > firo brigade sports held at Claremont on Easier Monday A. B. Postle | is credited with having run 100 yds in 9 2-55., L which beats Arthur P. DufTey's record of 9 3-55., and equals Dan Kelly's recent run ; of 9 2-ss. ■ However; as it. was admitted ; that the track is " slightly down hill," and the runner had " a strong breeze" behind him, no notice can be taken of tho run as a record. - "•
