L .'■ ■■; •.'.,' ' ' ■'■': : [by TELEGRAPH. —OWN correspondent.] [■■:•' Thames, Thursday. < Great dissatisfaction is expressed at the ' Thames.at the uncertainty of the arrival of ' the Auckland train, it being quite common for this train'to' arrive 'considerably after the advertised time, thus causing great inconvenience to passengers and consignees of goods. »'As an instance, yesterday the train, which wa* due. at fcwenty-fm> minutes past five p.m., did not arrive until about halfpast seven, and to-night the same train wtus dekyed until a-quarter past eight p.m. A rather serious case of assault occurred hero last night, whereby two miners returning home from work at the' Waiotebi mine shortly after midnight were injured to such an extent as t-r incapacitate them from work for some time. The two men in question, G. Lovell and J. Anderson, were walking along the footpath in Upper Pollenstreet, and were suddenly assaulted by seve- '■ ral men,,and badly knocked about. Some! of their mates who were in the. vicinity came to their assistance,,', at which the ! assailants made off. Loveil was so badly I ' injured that he had to be carried home, I i and is now under medical attendance. The j matter bae been placed in the hands of the j .police.' . J
