Ward, Government analyst. - More people die from the indirect results of colds than anything else. Dr. Ewart, London, regards Baxter's Lung Preserver : as invaluable for colds and chest affections ; generally. ' Messrs. D. Hay and Son, of the Montpel--Ik- Nurseries, Remue-ra, Auckland, have ! ■just issued their general catalogue for 1907. ' As could be expected from this old-estab-lished and well-known firm, the catalogue is a large one, and 1 the, list of fruits, flowers, ornamental and timber trees, hedge plants, and orchard accessories, is wonderfully varied: One of the specialties of which Messrs. Hay and Son may be proud is the. number of locally-raised seedling varieties. Under this heading are included some of the finest, peaches known to New Zealand, together with apples, nectarines, and other fruits, which have been thoroughly tested and proved of fine- quality. In flowers the most notable feature is the wealth of rosea and carnations, included among which are the newest, as well as the finest, varieties known. The catalogue, besides containing marvellous lists of fruits, flowers, etc., provides a large amount of information foil planting, fighting insect and fungoid pests, etc. As a sample of printing and illustrating, it is a credit to the Herald Office, where it was published. The catalogue is issued free, and can be obtained from Messrs. Hay or their agents. ACTS OX NATURE'S PLAN. The successful medicines are those that assist Nature. Chamberlain's Cough Remedy acts on this plan. Tako it when yon have a cold, and it will allay the cough, relieve the lungs, aid expectoration, open the secretions, and help Nature in restoring the system to a healthy condition.
