THAMES SCHOOL OF MINES.

Thames, Wednesday. The monthly meeting of the Thames School of Mines Council was held this evening. A communication from the I;nder-Secretary for Mines was read, to the effect that the Minister had approved the expenditure of £33 lis on electrical apparatus and plant for the use of the Thames School.
The monthly report irom Mr. Given, acting-director, was read, in which lie reported the progress of the school as very satisfactory. "it was resolved to recommend that, Mr. Given receive a directors salary during the time ho is acting in that capacity. The newly-appointed director, Mr. W. IT. Baker, wrote, stating that, he was leaving West Australia for New Zealand on May 1
It was resolved that, in view of the approaching visit of tho Minister for Mines to tho Thames, a sub-committee be appointed to draft a list of such requirements as are urgently needed, and lay the ."ante before the Minister on his arrival.
