KURANUI-CALEDONIAN.

Mr. J. W. Nichol, ccretarv of the Kura-i-Caledonian Company, received •' telegram from the mine manager yesterday, stating tnat the tailings from the recent parcel of six tons crashed had yielded an additional 12oz of gold, making a total of 330z, of the estimated value of £72, representing £12 a ton. The manager adds: " I find the leader is still standing, going east, and showing a little gold."' VICTORIA. The newly-appointed manager of the Victoria Gold Mining Company (Mr. C. Williams), in a report to the directors on the most advantageous operations to pursue in the future, says the ore body in No. 1 reef at, No. 4 level appears to be the best immediate prospect for the company. It traverses the same belt of country* as the Mariner and other gold-producing reefs at No. 4 and levels above. He recommends driving on the course of tin- reef hill ward, and subsequently testing the quartz with battery treatment. He points out, as a hopeful factor, the junction of what he believes to bo No. 2 reef with No. 1 reef seaward of he crosscut, and as the work done at this point is not sufficient to prove values, he recommends that, a stope and other necessary work be carried out. A little prospecting should also bo undertaken on a block at No. 1 level, which ha* a lead of about 2in, and gave good results where worked. NEW ECLIPSE. At an extraordinary meeting of shareholders of the New Eclipse Gold Mining Company, held yesterday, the resolution passed at a previous meeting, deciding to voluntarily wind up the company, was confirmed. Mr. H. Gilfillan, jun., was appointed liquidator. THE WAIHI MINES. AMOUNTS EXPENDED IN DEVELOPMENT. [BY TELEGRAPH- —OWN* CORRESPONDENT.] W '.vim, Wednesday. Some interesting figures were given at the Arbitration Court to-day respecting the amount of money expended in connection with the development of the Waihi mine*. Mr. Simmonds, superintendent of the Grand •lunction Company, stated that fully £283.000 had been spent since the inception of the company in mine development, and the erection of plant. Mr. Evans, manager of the Waihi Consolidated, said that tho lirst English company who owned the Consolidated spent fully £20,000 betoro closing down, and under recent, options another £7000 had been expended, making £27,000 in all.
