Sydney, April 6. Reports have been received through a; German steamer that cannibalism is rampant in the Sir Chillies Hardy group of islands. The Governor and party had penetrated (lie bush and discovered abundant proofs of cannibalistic feasts. All the villages affected have been destroyed, as a punishment, and 11 of the ringleaders arrested. These natives are described as

the worst cannibals in the .South Sens.

The Sir Charles Hardy, or Nissan, group of islands lies between (he Solomons Group and New Ireland, and belongs to Germany. There are three islands, forming a ring round a lagoon. The native population is about 1500.
