Pretoria. March 12. The Premier of the Transvaal (Mr. Botha), speaking at a banquet at Pretoria yesterday, said the Boers were so deeply grateful to the King and the British Government and people for generously granting a free Constitution to the Transvaal that British interests would be absolutely safe in their hands, and the Boers would be zealous' for the honour of the British flag. *
Mr. Botha added that he would try to create a united South Africa, and by all means help the development of the mines while resisting attempts by powerful corporations to prevent the prospecting of the country. He did nob intend to reduce the natives to a servile state, but to encourage them to become useful and contented workers. He intended to attend the Imperial Conference.
