AQUATICS.

The Thelma, which lias been cruising to the North for the past fortnight, returns to Auckland to-morrow.

Moana leaves for a fortnight's cruise to the North next Saturday.

The oil launch (lei,ha, with Mr. J. Hodgson and a parry of friends, leaves for the North to-day for a fortnight's cruise!

Mr. O. Bailey, jun., has a very nice 26ft oil launch ready for launching for the Union S.S. Company, a 25ft launch for Mr. (J. Do Thierry, of Rangiriri, and a 50ft launch for the Timber Company.

The Dovonporfc Yacht Club hold their annual picnic: at Orakei on Saturday next.

North Shore Yacht Club had a most successful series of races on Saturday afternoon last. There were six events on the programme, for all of which there were good entries, and some interesting races resulted. The committee of the club are to he congratulated upon having such a successful season; and if the same spirit is maintained in the future the club should be one of the most successful on the Wuitemafa.

The offer of Messrs. dagger Bros., of the Thelma', to race (he Moanu (Messrs. Seccombe Bros.) over the regatta course for tho prize, owing to the Moana having been put out of the race by the collision with the Matangi on January 29, has not. been accepted. Whilst, cordially acknowledging the fine sporting spirit of the Thelma's owners in the matter, Me/ana's owners do not see their way to take up tin; offer. The late .Mr. Albert Bagley, who was engineer on tho ill-fated Aotea, was an enthusiastic .yachtsman, and a member of the Manukau Yacht Club. Recently his father, Mr. ("has. Bagley, of Epsom, decided to donate two medals to the. club, to be known as the "Albert medals." These trophies will be sailed for at Onehunga this afternoon, when keen competition is expected, as all the boats are entered.

The prizes won at; the Anniversary Regatta were paid over on Thursday night at the clubrooin, Queen-street. There war. a large attendance- of the Regatta Committee and those interested, but I was sorry to see such a few of ilio competitors present to receive their prizes, It is rather disheartening to the committee, who give their time so freely to carry out the "details of the regatta, with all its trouble and inconvenience to them, to find that their efforts are so lightly regarded by both yachtsmen and oarsmen. J hope that in future competitors will he a little more considerate to the members of the Regatta Committee and put in an appearance at. the mooting when the prizes are paid over. I have received a wire, from the lion, secretary of the To Ivopuru Rowing Union staging they have postponed their regatta, and asking me to make known that they intend to hold a full regatta in March next. West End Rowing Club intended holding trial fours at the Rowing Association's gala. on .Saturday next, but. as that function has been postponed the West End Club will hold trial fours at the boathouse, il'ousomby, for trophies presented by Mr. Murdoch" McLean, president of the club. As "president's day" is always looked forward to by the members, large entries are expected, and good racing should result.

NORTH SHORE ROWING CLUB. North Shore Rowing Club are holding au At. Homo"' and trial fours on Saturday next for trophies presented by the president of the chili (Mr. F. ('.. Kwington). They are to be. held on Cheltenham Beach, and the entries close on Thursday next at the clubhouse. The committee extend a hearty invitation to the club's supporters. The club was represented at the Hamilton Regatta, and the stroke of the light-weight maidens rowed bow in the heavy-weight maidens, not A. Patterson, as published : therefore, the winners of the De-war shield were: R. Warren, 10. Buchanan, F. Goudie, K. Bailey, T. Grey (cox). The- club have been runners-tip three years for the Dewar shield, and the committee are quite satisfied ■that the present crew are a good crew, through training hard.
