THE CRICKET SEASON.
DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCHES. The district championship matches were resumed on Saturday afternoon in perfect weather. The chief attraction was the North Shore-Eden match, played on the former's ground, where an exceedingly, large number of spectators congregated. North Shore occupied the batting creases all the afternoon, and got 286 on the board for the loss of seven wickets. Haddon made. 97 by excellent cricket, and with Philson (51) made * very serviceable stand. A. E. Keif, Eden's crack bowler, after sending down nine overs for 29 runs, had to retire from the bowling crease owing to a strain lie had received. At Victoria Park Ponsonby were for the third successive time dismissed for under a hundred, this time Grafton getting them for 90. Grafton had lost four wickets for 130 when stumps were, drawn. Parnell went down before the. City trundlers for 150, and City lost four wickets for 56.
