ARRIVAL OF THE HOME RULE DELEGATE.
MR. DEVLIN'S TOUR.
Aito.VG the passengers from 'New Plymouth yesterday by the' s.s. Takapuna was Mr. Joseph Devlin, M.P. for West Belfast, who is one ,of .the Irish delegates . at present touring the colonies in the - interests of Home Rule. Mr. Devlin was met at Onehunga by the Hon. J. A. Tole, Messrs. W. J.' .Speight, P. J. Nerheny, and M. J.. Sheahan (members of the Reception Committee), and given a hearty wecome to Auckland. ' Mr. Devlin loaves for Rotorua this morning in order to secure a muchneeded rest before resinning bis campaign. At the conclusion of his Wellington meeting on Friday night (which was the 180 th address given by him in the colonies) Mr. Devlin found his throat to be much affected, and his medical adviser ordered a week or ten days' rest and quiet. He will return to Auckland about Saturday, January 5, and will be the guest of Bishop Lenihan until the following Monday, when he will leave for New Plymouth and speak there on Tuesday, January 8. He will address one or two other meetings on the west wast of this island and then visit Napier and Gisborrte. Mr. Devlin will return to Auckland about January 15, and will remain in the district until his departure for America on February 1. He will deliver three addresses in the Auckland district—at Waihi, Hamilton, and Auckland. Mr. Devlin states that- ho has been highly gratified at the reception that he has received during his tour throughout the colonies, and he sneaks very hopefully of the future prospects of the Home Rule movement. Mr. Donovan, the other delegate, will arrive in New Zealand from Australia shortly.
