At the inquest oar Alexander Ronald MacDonald, who was found dead at Momington on Thursday, having shot himself with a pea-rifle, a verdict of suicide while temporarily insane was returned'.' Christchvbch, Saturday. At the Police Court to-day S. McKiiiley, for the impudent theft of a purse from the person of a -boardinghouse-keeper, was sent to gaol for one month. Harry Kilgour got throe months for associating with reputed thieves. The defence was that he did not know the character of his associates.
Gisborne, Sunday. The opening of tho new building of" the Gisborne. Times Company and tho installation of the linotype machines was celebrated yesterday by a large gathering, including tire Mayor and county chairman.
Westfokt, Sunday. The Westport Coal Company's output last week was 9578 tons 12owt.
