* Wellington-, Friday. At to-day's 'wool .sales 5254 bales were offered. The quality of the wool was somewhat, better than in past, seasons. There -was less Lincoln and more Romney. At the. time of the' last sale the London freight was 3-16 d with five per cent, primage.: Now it is a halfpenny, with 10 per cent. primage. Reckoning this in the calculation, average medium crossbred. brought nearly %<\ more than at last sale, while fine crossbred made an advance of. Id. A weakness "of the sale was that a number of bales.were withdrawn owing- to the growers' idea of value being different to that of buyers. A line of fine crossbred brought Is 2£d, others Is 2d. The general range 'of prices-was as follows: — Half-bred.s, lid to. Is. o|d ; superfine crossbred, lid to Is (Ud; medium. 10£ d to lljjd; coarse, lOd to lid inferior, „9£.d to 10] d; pieces and bellies, 6d to 9i;d : hocks. '3d to sd. •-.
