'London, December 10. Hugh Watt, an ex-M.P., whose release after serving a year for attempting to procure the murder of his wife was ordered in August last, has now been discharged from gaol.
Hugh Watt was formerly member of Parliament, for one of the Glasgow divisions, and was it prominent man in flio city. In 1903 ho- was co-respondent, in M . , a . ; in winch the wife of Sir Reginald Boauchamp was divorced: After thin case Watt and If y violet iJeauchaini) lived together, and .Mr*. Wait obtained a divorce from her husband. The evidence against him in the conspiracy case was that lie bribed various men to murder his wife. These men, notably ono called Marshall, .seem to have played with him, pretending to undertake the commission and getting liberal "refreshers" from him. In December last ho was convicted and sentenced to , five Years' penal servitude. Several attempts have been made to obtain his release on the ground that he had fallen into serious ill-health.
