RAILY ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE HOLIDAYS.

At Christmas and New Year holiday time the Railway Department have in previous years run two express trains between Auckland and Rotorua. Owing to the large increase in traffic on lite Thames and Wailii lines, it has been decided to make an alteration in this season's arrangement. Commencing on Friday. December 22, 1906, and continuing until January 10, 1907, two express trains will be run from Auckland. The first train, leaving at ten a.m., , will run to Eotonta, and in addition to taking passengers for Rotorua branch, will take passengers for Cambridge branch. The second train, leaving at twenty-live minute's to eleven a.m., will run to Thames, also taking passengers for Taumaranni line and for Waihi branch. The second express train will, between Auckland and Morrinavillc,. make the same stoppages as the ordinary express. Passengers for Taumarunui line and. for Thames and Waihi linos should travel by the second express, the first express not making a direct connection with the trains for these lines. The second ex- . press, which travels at the same speed as the ordinary express, will have ft diuiiigcar attached between Auckland and Frankton. Amongst other train arrangements ;':■■''■which are advertised is a late train, which leaves Auckland for Mercer and intermedi- ; al; stations on December 24, 1905, at . - ten minutes past ten p.m., and another ". late train, which will leave Auckland for j. Rotorua on the same date at ten minutes V. to eleven p.m., arriving at Rotorua at r< seven a.m. on Tuesday. A return special express leaves Rotorua for Auckland at a- . quarter past seven p.m. on Boxing Day, December 26. These trains will enable passengers to visit Rotorua during the holidays- and give them two clear days there.
