There was considerable difficulty in extricating Roberts, who had been jammed very tightly, and Dr. Grattan Guinness, who arrived soon after, found that Roberts had sustained injuries to his back. Constables Eccles and Berry., who were summoned, removed Roberts in the Borough Council's Ashford litter to Mrs. Bongard's nursing home in Vauxhall Road. La.fe la.st night it was ascertained that the injured mam was a good deal better, and it was not anticipated that any serious injury would result from the accident.
