The reef recently intersected at No. 4 level, in the Waihi Grand Junction, was proved to bo close on 40ft in width, and now crosscutting for the No. 2 lode is m progress. It is expected the lode will be to hand in about 50ft of driving. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Waihi, Thursday. The mine manager of the Maoriland mine reports that in the low level, No. 3 stope, north of No. 1 rise, lias been stripped 17ft. In the intermediate level, No. 2 block, No. 1 stop*, on No. 4 reef, north of No. 1 vm\ hut been stripped 20ft. On No. 2 reef. 260 ft north of No. 1 rise, the drive has been extended 18ft. and the value lias improved. The reef shows- more sulphides and some, gold by pounding, but it is only 4in wide. The battery manager reports thai the stamps have worked nine shifts and crushed 23 ton- since the slime vat was completed. The stamps have worked full time, and will do so as long an water holds out.
