CONFERENCE OF WOOLLEN MANUFACTURERS.
ADVANCE IN PRICES.
[BY TELKUEAVH. — PKKSS ASSOCIATION.]
Ciiristchurch, Wednesday. A conference of won lie manufacturers in New Zealand was held yesterday in the Kaiapoi Company's premise*. The meeting was private, and strictly confined to representatives of the firms directly concerned. It is understood that proposals were discussed for modifying the excessive competition amongst the colonial manufacturers of woollen goods. It is stated in a Wellington telegram that, a meeting there has been convened by Dunedin manufacturers, but the impression here is that the initiative was really taken by the Kaiapoi Company. Ashisuiiton, Wednesday.
The Guardian states that as the result of the conference of woollen manufacturers held in Christ-church on Tuesday woollen goods generally will be. advanced 10 per cent, in price, and circulars to that effect have been issued by the manufacturers to their clients.
