THE MANCKAU SEAT.
WRIT ISSUED TO-DAY. . • [BY TELEGRAPH.PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Grktmoith, Thursday. The 'Hon. A. R. Guinness, Speaker of the House, was informed to-day that notice of the vacancy in the representation of the (electoral district of Manukau, appears in this.week's Gazette. He will cause the writ to be issued to-morrow, and it is re-, turnable within 21 days, and the registrar of electors/on receipt of the writ is to eire 10 days' notice of the date of the poll. - A largely attended meeting of the Onehung* branch', of . the- Liberal and Labour "Federation was held in the Foresters' Hall, Onehunga, -last night, but was not open to the representatives of the press. Amongst those present were the Hon. George Powlds, Minister for Education, and Mr. Frank Lawr-v, M.H.R. for Parnell. It is understood* that the question of a Government candidate to contest the Manukau seat was discussed. but there was a good deal of difference of opinion on the matter.
