SYDNEY'S TRAMWAY INQUIRY.

REPORT OF THE BOARD. PROTECTION FOR DRIVERS RECOMMENDED. By Telegraph.—Press Association.—Copyright. (Received November 1. 11.40 in.) Sydney, November 1. The report of the board appointed recently to investigate the complaints of the Sydney tramway employees dismissed most of the complaints as trivial, groundless, or improved. The chief recommendations are thai glass fronts be provided to the trams to protect drivers from the weather, and that, more prompt attention be given to reports against the men. The report suggests that it. would be a liberal, even generous, concession, if the prayer of the memorial signed by a number of officers in favour of the employment of Driver Lawton could be granted. Lawton took a prominent part in the agitation that led to the appointment, of the board.
