ALLEGED FAILURE OF BEHRING'S REMEDY. By Telegrspb— Association.—Copyright. (Received October 10, 9.34 p.m.) L " v Pakis, October 10. Professor Bencheim, addressing the Tuberculosis Conference at Paris, asserted yesterday that Professor Behr--6 ing's serum produces no effect on o tuberculosis in human patients "or Z animals. '■': At the International Congress at Paris in October of last year Professor Behring read a paper, in which he claimed that he had , found a new remedy against tuberculosis. The curative principle, he said, was derived from the tubercle bacillus. It acted on the living culls of the organism, and not on the ' serum of the blood, or the fluids of the body. His announcement was received with the keenest interest, in view of the fact that he was the discoverer of the antitoxin of diphtheria. He refused to make the details of his discovery public until it > had been tested thoroughly by a number of j international scientists and medical men.
