PRINCIPAL RAINY.
TO VISIT AUSTRALIA. By Telegraph.— Association.— (Received October 10, 10.48 p.m.) f ■ ■ -■ London. October 10. Principal Rainy, head of New College, Edinburgh, is resigning his post,, and intends, to visit Australia for the benefit of his health. v Principal Rainy is 80 years of age. He was first Moderator of the United Free i Church of Scotland, and was re-elected in 1905. He was the chief mover in the movement for the union of the Churches of Scotland, and when the " Wee Frees " won their case on appeal to the House of Lords, he was active in the fight, and also in the after negotiations, which resulted finally in a settlement ".'
