The Australasian and New Zealand championship meeting, which is to be hold at Christchurch during Christmas week, is not only attracting great attention in New Zealand, but Australian players are giving the tournament serious consideration (says a Wellington writer). Brookes, Heath, Doust. and Parker are considered to be certain competitors; in fact, ; advice to that effect.-has been received. Should these four players come tho New Zealand Association might easily arrange a match against Australia., as the player's named are. about the four strongest in Australia. With Wilding New Zealand should Ik? able to hold its own. Messrs. Rudder and Dunlop, tiwo useful players, of Sydney, are also coming. .Miss Gyton, the champion lady player of Victoria, is also expected, and • although Miss Pay ton, champion of Now South Wales in 1905, is uncertain, the- present champion, Miss Baker, mav come. The Misses Leo of Wollongong (N.S.W.), have been approached, and a favourable answer, is expected. They are both fine players. Mrs. Barry, of Sydney is working hard to get a ladies* team and should she bo successful there will be extra interest in tho- ladies' events. H \ Parker is reported to be in great form- 'in fact, he is said to have improved upon his game of last year. He makes a start in the Sydney championships at Strathfield in a week time, then goes on to Perth for the championships there. Ho will also compete for the Victorian championships in November, and should be in splendid form tor the Australasian and New Zealand championships at Christmas. Anthony Wilding, of Christchurch. won. the South of England Lawn Tennis Championship at Eastbourne. On the application of the New South Wales Association the Australasian Association has declarer! Mr. H. A. Parker (formerly of New Zealand) to be eligible to represent, that State as from November 7 next This will enable Parker to play for New' South Wales either at the November tournament in Melbourne or at the Australasian championship events to be decided in Christchurch in December, There is a proposal on foot in England and America to provide a challenge cup to lie competed for br ladies' teams from these two countries.
