BOWLING.
MOUNT EDEN CLUB'S ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of members of the Mount Eden Bowling Club was held on Friday overling last in the club's pavilion, Motun Eden, the president, Mr. Oliver [Nicholson, in the chair. There was a good attendance of members. The committee's report stated that as a result of the attention given to the greens by tho superintendent (Mr. 8. B. Burns) during: the close season it was expected that the greens would be found in better order during the "'coming'season than during any other period of the : club's existence. The club had been represented by six teams in the pennant competition of 1905-06, but the X representatives were not so successful as usual, their record being four wins and four losses. The club was also represented in the champion fours. fi,rst-vear players, competition. the Rotorua and. Tc Aroha tournaments. and the team consisting of Messrs.' Simpson, Surman, Young, and S. G. Burns (skip) won the last mentioned event. Two of the club's members, Messrs. Mercer and' Tutt, had been on an extended tour of Japan and Great Britain, and it was gratifying to note that they had been worthily upholding the credit of the club on the bowling field. Tho membership of the club numbered 90, of whom 84 were playing and five honorary members, the remaining one being a country member. After paying £60 to the company owning the ground for rent, the year had closed with a credit balance of £4 i2s lid, which the committee considered very satisfactory. Officers for the ensuing year were elected a3 under: —President, Mr. Oliver Nicholson (unanimously re-elected); hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr. C. -Laßoche; committee, Messrs. C. Ncwland. R. Young, Fergus son; Match Committee, Messrs. A. Robins, H. Brookes. 11. Walton: green superintendent, Mr. S. G. Burns; delegates to the Auckland Bowling Association, the president and secretary (Messrs. Nicholson and Laßoche); delegates to the Northern Howling Association, Mr. F. K. Reeves (Wellington); auditor, Mr. S. Gray. Mr. Edmund Mahony. whose resignation was received owing to his removal from the district, was elected an honorary life member of the club, in recognition of valuable services in the past. Twelve new members were elected, and several prizes for the incoming season were donated by members present and others. It was decided to open the club's ereen3 on Saturday, October 20. the green superintendent (Mr. Burns) intimating that they would be in perfect order for play by that date. ' CARLTON WINTER GREEN.
