Hurricanes, accompanied by floods, have occurred in the southern States of America. [ Damage to the extent of a million . dollars, not including that, suffered by the cotton-growers, has been done ' in Alabama. 1 Many buildings have been unroofed at Pensacola, and steamers lie stranded far up the streets. The 1 losses at the latter place amount to 1 2,000,000 dollars. 5 (Received September 30, 4.45 p.m.) 1 New York, September 5!9. , At Mobile, the hurricane wrought 1 great damage. Several ships were, ! wrecked and the wharves damaged. Christ Church was blown down and ' the cathedral wrecked. Several ' blocks of buildings in the city were flooded. The damage is estimated at 3,000,000 dollars. Great damage was done in several other towns in Alabama.
