The resolution will be submitted for confirmation at a future meeting. MOANATAIARI EXTENDED. [Br TELEGRAPH. —OWN" CORRESPONDENT.] Thames, Wednesday. Work in the Moanataiari Extended mine is confined to opening out on the new reef. This has been cut through in the level about 40ft below the outcrop. The reef is about 10ft in thickness, and is composed of promisinglooking quartz, with nice mineral, while about 3ft- on the hangingwall side .shows nice dabs of gold. A stairt has been made to drive both" ways along the hangingwall to further prospect the reef, which, as far as can be seen, has not been worked previously. MINE MANAGERS" REPORTS. New Una (September 17): The drive being put in to intersect Duke's reef is in a firm class of country. This, however, is not. expected to continue, as an easier class of country for progress' is to be seen ahead. Victoria (September 17): Driving at No. 4 level is in progress without material change to report, there being still large bands of quartz running the same course as the crosscut and a little bright mineral is seen. Good progress is being made with the extension of the drive on the hangingwall of the No. 6 reef seaward of the No. 4 level crosscut. 45ft having been driven from the starting point. This drive is to ascertain the value, of the No. 6 reef and intersect its junction with No. 7. The break met with lias caused the No. 6 reef to -become somewhat disturbed, and the quartz coming to hand is intermixed with bands of sandstone. A little bright mineral and silica is seen. The country in the face is now a little firmer and consists of a light class of sandstone, interlaced with nice mineral and silica veins. Rising and stoping operations on the Victoria reef above No. 3 level are in progress east- of the No. 1 break, and the reef, which is about 3ft wide, is in good sandstone country, intermixed with nice mineral veins. The ore coming to hand is similar to that previously taken out. The small stringer in the bangingwall of th« main reef continues to show a little bright mineral, in which a few colours of gold are occasionally seen. May Queen Extended (September IS): The water is now down to the old pump (94ft), and the lower levels should soon be entirely unwatered. I am still doing a little work on the No. 1 lode, and the ore maintains a very promising appearance. As soon as the water is cleared out all attention will be paid to the lower levels. Champion (September 15) The low level has been extended 17ft for the. week, making 56ft for the month. The country passed through has been of a very tight- nature up till Thursday last, when splendid country was struck. The face at present, is most promising owing to the country being of the same character as that running with the reefs in the upper workings. Rising Sun (September 15): During the week the north drive on the hangingwall reef has been continued. On the foot wall of the reef a better class of country ia coming in for working. The leader that went off into the eastern wall 20ft back has again come into the drive and will junction with the reef in another few feet of driving- The reef is still 2ft wide and prospects well. The drive from the bottom of the winze has also been continued. The country penetrated Is of a good class of firm sandstone. A portion of the reef has been broken down and continues to give dish prospects of gold.
