Wednesday evening. The remarket, was quiet again to-day. In investment lines South British Insurances sold at £5 14s 6d and £5 15s, and more were wanted at £5 14s 6d, late sellers asking £b 17s 6d. New Zealand and River Plates were placed at 30s 6d, and more were asked for at 29s 6d. Kauri Timbers (contributing) changed hands at 4s lid, late sellers ss, buyers 4s lOd. Northern Steamships (paid up) sold at 17s 3d, and more were available at. 17s 6d. Contributing shares in the same company were done at 7s lOd, late sellers Bs, buyers 7s 9<l. Northern Boots had sales »( 10s, late sellers not quoting, buyers at 9s 9d. In mining Waiotahis were dealt in from 31s 6d to 30s 9d to 31s. closing with demand nt 31s, and sellers at, 31s 6d. Talismans had transactions from 29s 6cl to 30s 6d to 30s to 30s 6d, and more wore offered at 31s, late buyers quoting 30s 6d. New May Queens sold at 3s 2d, late sellers 3s 2d, buyers 3s Id. , . , Dunedin, Wednesday. Wheat: No business is being do — in milling quality, although £ few _ sales , are reported in northern markets. Prime milling, nominally, 3s 5d to 3s 6d; medium to good, 3s 2Jd to 3s 4£d; best fowl wheat. 3s to 3s 2d; broken and dimaged, 2s 8d to 2s lid (tacks extra). Oats: There is some inquiry for shipping, but in most eases owners' reserves exceed shippers' ideas. Milling lines are in small demand, but good side lines continue to move off freely. Seed ' linn, 2s 4d to 2s 9d; prima milling, 2s 2£d to 2s 3d; good to best feed. 2s Id to 2s 2d; medium and inferior. Is lOd to 2s (sacks extra).- \ ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. [BY.TELKGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Christchcrch, Wednesday AtAddington live stock market to-day there were fairly large entries of stock in most departments and a good attendance. Prime fat cattle sold at about equal to last week's rates and in- ■ ferior sorts were rather easier. The fat sheep market opened at prices equal to about an average of those of last week for, prime sorts, while backward lots did not tell bo well. Fat pigs ■bowed little change in prices, but stores were much dearer. Store and dairy cnttle were much in demand. Store sheep met with rather a dull tale, and severs! lots were pasted in. The yard- • ing was composed principally of wethers and hoggets, the chief sales being: 103 wethers at 19a Id, 683 at 18s 9d ; 52 hoggets at. 17s 3d, 292 at lbs 3d. ISO at 14t 3d, and smaller lots at 12s Id to 16? 3d. There were 11 new season's fat lambs penned and they cold at lbs and Z3fc There was a larger yarding of fat sheep than lor several weeks past, and the quality was above the average. The, sale owned at prices above those'of the closing rates of last week. The. operations of export, buvers kept, the values of mediumweight sheep steady, prime heavy sorts being well competed tor by butchers, and unfinished lots were neglected and were again easier. The range of prills was: Extra prime wethers, 26s 3d to 295; prime, 23s to 265. Extra, prime ewes, 24s lid to 255; good to prime, 19s to 235; others, Jss .id to 13? 6d; hoggets, 16s 8d to 18s 3d. Prime merino wethers, 17» to 20s; lighter. 12s 10c' to 16s 9d. The supply of beef totaled 234 head, a good proportion of which was of prime ' quality, but there were a number of rough and inferior sorts. There was little or no change in the values of prime, beef, but inferior to medium description were easier. Steers brought £6 12s M to £11 10s; heifers, £4 15s to £9 10s; cows. £4 15» to £6 17s 6d (equal to 23s to 26s for prime and 20s to 22s 6d for inferior and medium tier 1001b). Veal calves sold at 7s 6d to 60s. There wag a full yarding of store cattle, including -«nie useful lines of two and three-year-olds. There were few buyers and most of the entry was passed. Yearlings made 28s to 30s; 15 to 18 months, 33a to 51s; two-year steers, £3 7s to £3 10s 6d; two-year heifers, £2 17s 6d to £2 19» 6d; three- steers, £3 12s 6d To £4 7s 6d; three-year heifers, £3 to £3 18s; dry cows, 20s to £3 4s Of a large entry of dairy cows the bulk were aged and inferior sorts. There was a fair demand for the better class and they sold at £7 to £8 10s. There was a medium yarding Of pigs, baconers being rather easier and porkers telling about the* same as last week. there was a further rise in stores, of which there were no large ones offered. Baconers, 45s to 59s (eqna , to 4Jd to 4J.1 per lb); porkers, 30s to 44s (equal to 5d to sid per lb); medium stores. 17s 6d to ■ 20s. and a. few to 15s; weaners, 14s to 16s, suckers, from Bs.
