WORKERS DWELLINGS.

NEW REGULATION REGARDING DEPOSITS. [BY TELEGRAPH. — SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT.] Wellington, Tuesday. The Minister for Labour (Mr. Millar) informs me that ho has decided to relax the conditions in regard) to the deposits required from applicants for workers' dwellings. Under the existing regulations applicants are required to make a, deposit on application, and this amounted in some cases to over £3. Under the now regulation proposed by the Minister no deposit will be required until an applicant draws a house. The amount which he will be called upon to deposit will be £1 in addition to the license, fee of £1 Is. Mr. Millar says this will test the accuracy of the statement that the paucity of applications for the Petonc dwellings was due to the heavy deposit required from applicants. The now regulations will, of course, apply to the applications for the homes which are to bo shortly balloted for at. Auckland.
