OTA If AND WAIROA COMBINED V. FRANKLIN REPRESENTATIVES. The above match was played at Clevedon on Saturday, September 8, before a large crowd of spectators. O. Hawthorn captained the combined team and W. (J. Abbott the representative fifteen. The game, which was a very interesting one, ended in a draw. A. Alexander kicked a penalty goal for the combined team and W. Abbott did likewise for Franklin. The Franklin for'--wards more than held their own and the backs on both sides did useful work. The visitors were subsequently entertained at. a dinner at the Wairoa Hotel and left immediately afterwards by coach for Papakura to catch the last Waikato train. -Mr. Morgan (Mercer) accompanied the Franklin team as manager.
