BOXING.
AUCKLAND AMATEUR CLUB,
The Auckland Amateur Boxing Club's Tournament was concluded on Saturday night, in the Federal Halt. There was a. pood attendance, and the sport- provided proved of an interesting character. Mr. E. Donovan was referee, and Mr. A. B.vers timekeeper. HEAVY WEIGHTS. • ■ «•-«*•' Harrington v. Buckley: Ths was an interesting. and at times amusing bout, of which Buckley had somewhat the best. In the second round Buckley fouled his opponent, and Harrington got the verdict. LIGHT WEIGHTS. Maloney v. Bolston: Four good clever rounds were boxed, during which it was difficult to pick the better man. However, Ma* loney did moat leading in the concluding round, and scored a victory by a narrow margin of points. Wakefield v. Stevenson: This bout was fast from start to finish, each man scoring well. At tho conclusion of the three rounds the referee was unable to separate them, and declared the contest a draw. PROFESSIONAL MATCH. The concluding bout of the evening was 10 rounds between the professional boxers, Cripps and Batehelor. The first three rounds were very even, Cripps doing most leading for the head, and Batchelor scoring heavily on the body. In the fourth round Batchelor was declared tho winner, Cripps being counted out.
