SUDDEN DEATH OF A THAMES RESIDENT.
EXPIRES IN QUEEN-STREET SHOP. •"' -..if The ■ sudden death of Mr. James Adami, 8.A., London, and headmaster of 'UWfraH Thames High School, occurred on Saturday forenoon in a shop in Lower Queen-street. Deceased had 'arrived in Auckland by/thii||S| Thames boat, intending to make a short stay with his daughter, Mrs. A. Buchanan, j who resides .at Remuera. Mrs. Buchanan and her brother met M". Adams at th« ;'■ wharf, and all three were making their :f way rather quickly to a tramcar at the lower Queen-street terminus. Suddenly -|| Mr. Adams complained of a fadntness, and -„'.:-„ shortly afterwards fainted away. He was y, immediately taken into a chemist's shop -J close by, but, notwithstanding that restora- '►<;■ lives were applied, he expired shortly after ' , being taken into the shop. The deceased, \ who wf.fi, 67 years of age, was attended to • • by Drs. Moir. and Aickin, but they could do * nothing for him when they arrived. It ie ;> stated that while on the boat coming" from • , jj| the Thames the deceased complained of pain and weakness of the heart. Mr. >~: Adams was highly respected, and well \-; known in Auckland and the Thames, and was a gentleman of high scholarly attain- ' '| ments. A widow and at grown-up family J survive the deceased. Messrs. E. F. Adams, surveyor at the Thames, C. Adams, and W. ; J. Adams, of the Survey Office Wellington, £ are sons, and Mrs. A. Buchanan and Mrs. '.- W. Baker are the married daughters. The City Coroner (Mr. T. Gresham) having ascertained that Dr. Lapraik, of the Thames, had attended the ', deceased Uk some years past for heart trouble, has decided that an inquest will not be necessary.
