PICKED STONE FROM NO. 3 STORE. IJkMjtecretary of the Waiotahi Gold Mining Company (Mr. G. S. Kissling) received the. following telegram from the mine manager yesterday afternoon:—"Selected 2801b of picked stone from the third stupe above No. 5 level." There is a feeling In some quarters in favour of ■'watering" the shares in the Waiotahi Company, and a requisition is now being signed by shareholders for presentation to the directors, asking that the shares be increased from 60,000 to 360,000. This, if given effect to, -would mean that shareholders would receive six shares for every one now held, and would fix the value, according to present quotations, at £1 10s per share. WAIHI. THE ROYAL LODE AT No. 8 LEVEL. FURTHER PARTICULARS. [BY. TELKGRAFH.—OWN" CORRESPONDENT.] Waihi, Wednesday. Further particulars regarding tho intersection of the Royal, lode in the Waihi mine show that the reef was met with by the No. 8 level, at a point about 294 ft from the No. 5 pump shaft, and 150 ft below the No. 7 level. The Royal had been followed down from the No. 7 level by means of a winze to a depth of 135 ft, thus* leaving from 15ft to 20ft of rising to establish a. connection (tit this point between the two levels. When the desired connection has been effected vigorous driving, will be commenced both east and' west from the bottom level, and there is no doubt, judging by appearances, that a large and valuable block of payable ore will be opened up, for already the ore has been proved to carry better values at No. 8 than obtained overhead at No. 7. The reef is fully lift wide at the point of intersection, and is worth over loz per ton, which is regarded as very satisfactory. j TALISMAN. Advices have been received from the Loudon office of the Talisman Consolidated, Limited, to the effect that the directors* have consented to the transfer of the colonial register of the company from Karangahake to Auckland, and that Captain Jas. Smith, and Mr. A. Hanna are to be the company's New Zealand attorneys. The register will be transferred to Mr. Hanna's office as soon as arrangements are made to enable the business of the company to be transacted there, probably in, about a fortnight's time. The decision of the London directors to change the office is largely duo to representations made by the committee of the Auckland Stock Exchange, and the keeping of the register in Auckland-should prove a. great convenience both to shareholders and brokers. SOUTHERN QUEEN. A quantity of gold-bearing stone taken from the three leaders running through the Blue reef, in the Southern Queen mine, was on exhibition at the office of the secretary (Mr. H. J. Lee) yesterday. In some cases the quartz showed flaky gold, and in. others nice bands of coarse gold carrying right through the stene. NEW SYLVIA. Tile directors of tho New Sylvia Gold Mining Company have let a contract for driving 300 ft on the low level. This level, when completed, will give from 170 ft to 200 ft of backs on the present reef, and itis thought highly probable that other lodes will be intersected in the course of driving. -ft.
