AUCKLAND PRESBYTERY.

A meeting of the Auckland Presbytery was held yesterday in St-. Andrew's Hall.

Ministerial Tenure: On tho motion of the Rov. J. B. Monro, the meeting rejected the overture from Tanaraiki, - that an alteration, should bo made in the ministerial tenure, suggesting a certain term (with power of renewal) ill; place of , a life tenure. Mr. Monro moved a motion suggesting the formation of a confidential committee, to which ministers could apply for information as to vacancies. This motion he, honever, withdrew, on the passing of the motion rejecting the Taranaki overture.

_ St. Peter's Ohurch: Mr. T. Peace, speaking oil behalf of St. Peter's Church, New North Road, approached the Presbytery to secure permission to obtain a loan, with a view to liquidating outstanding debts. On the motion of the Rev. Monro, seconded by the Rev. Gray Dixon, the permission was granted. Call from-Pukekohe: The Rev. James Irvine /received a call from the Pukekohe parish. The Presbytery sustained the call, and fixed July 3 as the date for the induction to take place in the Pukekohe Church. Proposed Amalgamation of Funds: On the motion of the Rev. J. B. Monro, the following suggestions were referred back to a committee for further consideration: The amalgamation of the, church extension and ministerial funds of the Church, and the amalgamation of the sustentation fund of the South and the stipend fund of the North. Presbytery Assessments. Mr. Entrican drew attention to the slowness of parishes in sending in their presbytery assessments. Ho read out a list of names of parishes which were a year or more behind in their donations. A motion wa3 passed to give the various defaulters' a reminder. . A Call to Edendale: The Rev. Gray Dixon produced a call from the Edendale parish for the Rev. Mr. Miller, 'of Ashfield, Sydney. Ho thought that Mr. Miller would be an ideal man for that district. The Rev. Macau lay Caldwell proposed, and the Rev. Mr. Walker seconded, a motion, which was passed, sustaining the call. The Iter. Dr. J3ruce, of Sydney, was commissioned to prosecute the call. Immigrants: A committee was formed for the purpose of attending *fo'immigrants arriving iii the colony.
