THE CRICKET EMBROGLIO.
EFFORT AT SETTLEMENT TO BE MADE. By Telegraph.—Press Association.—Copyright. " Sidney, Juno 12. The trustees of the Sydney Cricket Ground; on the motion of Mr. Tricketfc, has decided to make every effort to terminate the present deadlock, and also to endeavour to secure the visit of a British team by combined action, and not by the effort of a single club.
A REPLY TO NOBLE. ; (Received June 12, 5.36 p.m.) Sydney, June 12. "The secretary of the' Cricket Association, replying to Mr. Noble, the cricketer, points out that the Board of Control represents the cricket interests of Australia, as was evidenced by the fact that, with the exception of • the .South Australian, all the governing bodies in cricket were represented on it. Mr. Noble himself had so far recognised its control of international cricket as to assist in electing the New South Wales representatives. Since the inception of the association no cricket had been played without the consent of the association, and the players at the time of signing -the agreement with, the Melbourne Club - were;' aware that the Board would refuse to recognise an English team unless it came, at the invitation of the Board, and that they would be disqualified if they played, against the team. He asks, it the agreement is so clear and aboveboard, why the players keep it secret, and refuse to produce it.
