Perth, June 12. Congratulating Mr. Justice Booth on taking his seat on the Supreme Court Bench yesterday, I Mr. l'ennefather. expressed regret that the appointment had not been made from the' Bar of the State. He had served four years as Attorney-General, and then had accepted a temporary appointment under the promise that , it would be confirmed. After eight months' hard work he received information that his services would be no longer required, as the .Government nad no intention of confirming the appointment.
Mr. Pennetather refers to a period in the nineties, If we mistake not, lie was made temporary judge by Sir John Forrest, just before the hitter's retirement to enter the Federal political field. On Mr. Throssell, who succeeded Sir John Forrest, being beaten at the elections by Mr. Leake, the latter assumed office ana set Acting Mr. Justice Pemiefather aside. The vacancy filled by Mr. Booth was caused by the retirement of Chief Justice Stone.
