In the counties of Whangsi >j and Mangonui 148 acres of second-class surveyed lands were opened under the three options provided by the Land Act, and in tin?. Hokianga and Opotiki Counties 697 acre.', of second-class lands were available for selection under similar conditions. The sections vary in size from 43 to 304 acres. Ir the Coromandel and Tauranga Counties 565 fores (217 and 348' acres respectively) of scrub land, also described at second-class, wore opened for lease in perpetuity, and .in the counties of Hobson and West. Taur-j i;-->*d-class lands aggregating 2140 acres were available to selectors under the optional clauses oi t'Ue Land .Act.
