P AEROA NOTES.

Paeroa, Monday. At the Paeroa Police Court to-day Patrick Treanor was charged with interfering with nine cows seized by the ranger for the purpose of being impounded. Defendant pleaded not guilty, but after hearing the evidence the Bench decided that the case had been proved, and fined defendant £2, and costs £2 10s. The annual meeting of the members of the No. .1 Ohinemuri Rifles was held last Friday evening. The annual report indicated that the corps was in a flourishing oonaition, and the balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £16 7s. Private CorkiLl was elected to the position of junior subaltern. Officers for the ensuing year were ejected as follows:— Secretory, Private W. Grant; caretaker and armourer. Private Thomsor ; Shooting Committee, Lieutenant Gorki .Sergeants Shaw and Hubbard. Privates Sanderson, Thompson and Hall ; Finance Committee. Sergeant Kenny and Corporal Stokes. During the evening refreshments were provided, and a number of toasts were proposed. Musical items were also rendered'.
