One of the workmen (Mr. A. Harrison) employed in laying the new gas mains in the Avenue, Wanga-iiui, had the misfortune to have his thigh broken last Thursday morning in a very simple manner. He was working in tiie pipe track, only a few feet deep, when the. side fell in., burying him up to his waist. When he was dug out it was found that his thigh had been broken by the sudden strain on the leg.
