LIEUTENANT SCHMIDT'S EXECUTION.
WHY HE WAS SHOT. St. Petersburg,* March 22. It is reported that Lieutenant Schmidt's sentence was commuted from hanging to shooting because no hangman could be persuaded to cany out the sentence.
