NEW YORK INSURANCE INQUIRY.
THE COMMITTEE'S RECOMMENDATIONS. By Telegraph.— Press Association.— (Received February 5, 9.51 p.m.) New York, February 5. The Committee of the Parliament of New York State appointed to inquire into the management, of the insurance companies, has submitted a drastic report. It recommends the payment of dividends annually, the settlement of claims within 30 days of proof, the curtailment of extravagant salaries, reform in methods of investment, and the taking of a fair ballot for offices. Publicity is demanded in order to secure policy-holders against devious management and subterfuge. The companies, it is recommended, should be forbidden to control subsidiary companies.
