iraoM oun own coniiEsrosuEXTs.] . .'rAEROA.AT a meeting of the committee of the Ohinemuri Agricultural and Horticultural Society it was decided to hold the agricultural show "on January 31 and .the stock show on February 24. The annual concert and presentation of prizes in connection with the Paeroa District High School was held on Friday evening, 160 attendance prizes being presented. It was mentioned that the first year the headmaster (Mr. Murphy) came to Paeroa one prize for attendance was presented, next year there were 30, the third yar 90, lust year 120, rand this year 160. At a meeting on Tuesday night of the members of Mr. Poland's committees at the recent election it was decided to cHtertnin Mr. Poland at a conversazione in the Criterion Theatre on Wednesday, February 14. At a meeting of the I'aerOa School Committee Miss Hogan was selected from the names submitted for the position of assistant-teacher. " It was decided to, apply to the Board of Education for an assistant-teacher for the High School class. The following additional games have been played in the Paeroa Bowling Club's championship singles: Dr., Smith, 23, v. Williams, 20; Forrest, 22, v. Dr. Smith, 16: the Rev. Lewis, 21, v. Heapo, 15; Bromwich, 26, v. Adolph, 14; Brabant. 30, v. Ellis, 18; Forrest, 25, v. Williams, 10; Hamilton, 26, v. Bromwich, 11; Moore, 18, v. Bromwich, 12 Morland, 16, v. the Rev. Lewis, 15: Forrest, 22, v. Do Castro, 12; McWatters, 22, v. Heape, 17: McWatters, 21, v. the Rev. Lewis, 12; McWatters, 20, v. Andrews, 10; Priestley, 18, v. Hamilton, 16; Nicholas, 15, v.. Ellis, 13. In the pairs' competition Hamilton and Ellis, 28, defeated Morland and Nicholas, 11. COROMANDEL. The ordinary monthly meeting of the Coromandel County Council was held on Monday. Messrs. Walker and Burgess, county solicitors, stated that the county rolls for the new ridings must •be made up from the rolls now in force, there being no power to enter any fresh names. The chief engineer of the Department of Roads wrote authorising the expenditure of certain grants. The clerk submitted an estimate for the ensuing rear, estimating the receipts at £2837 19s, and the expenditure at £2759 19s 9d, which would show an improvement, of the finances to the extent of £77 19s 3d. There were two applications for the position of dog registrar for Goromandel, Mr. .T. H. Hoyle being appointed. Four applications were received for the position of gum ranger, three of which were informal. Mr. ,1. D. ISryce was appointed for Mercury Bay.
